NYC Together developed precinct-level protocols that best meet the needs of young people who are arrested. We connect them to critical services and support at the moment of arrest. This has impacted on average 80-100 youth per month since January 2020. The evolution of our work has shown us that to create wide-spread, systemic impact, we need to focus not just on interrupting the school to prison pipeline, but also elevate community based resources that work and devise replicable continuums of care that create viable alternatives to detention for young people.
